Naci\u00f3 en 1966 en Birmania. Estudi\u00f3 derecho en la Universidad, realiz\u00f3 Anyeint (Teatro Popular Birmano), y lider\u00f3 las protestas estudiantiles de 1988 en favor de la democracia. Antes de su encarcelamiento en 1998 fue pionero del arte del performance en Birmania. Durante los seis a\u00f1os que estuvo en prisi\u00f3n, desarroll\u00f3 t\u00e9cnicas de impresi\u00f3n y pintura que le permitieron crear secretamente cientos de obras en los uniformes, usando materiales de contrabando y objetos que ten\u00eda en su celda, como platos o encendedores. Tras su liberaci\u00f3n sigui\u00f3 pintando utilizando las t\u00e9cnicas concebidas en la c\u00e1rcel y haciendo performance. Su obra se basa en sus extraordinarias experiencias vitales, los acontecimientos pol\u00edticos en Birmania, y su profunda fe budista.
